How saved

How to be saved

How to be saved? This is a follow-up article to – What is Salvation? Salvation is about being in a proper relationship to our Creator. As such, salvation is a matter of coming to know God and trust Him. Mankind fell from this relationship through a lack of trust in God in the garden of Eden. Every person since then was born with a nature inclined towards distrust and so, everyone sins. God’s word tells us that if anyone claims that they have no sin they are lying and the truth is not in them. So it could be said […]

What if someone’s never heard?

If you’ve ever asked this question then I already like you. It shows you are a thinker and that is a very good thing! The answer is actually very simple and can be understood by examining the meaning of two simple passages (though more will be given). 1st – The Bible tells us that sin is to KNOW to do right and then not do it – James 4:17. So the sin of not making Jesus the Lord of your life is a sin you cannot only commit if you know about Him. 2nd – Jesus tells us that all […]

About Apostles

About Apostles

First off, what are Apostles? Well an Apostle, along with Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, Prophets and workers of Miracles are all “appointments”. I use this rather clumsy word of  “appointment” because there is SO MUCH kickback in today’s word of using the word “office” due to the mental baggage that word arries for some people. Why Gather

Why we Gather?

Why we Gather? The following are just a sampling of the many objections I’ve heard from people to attending or joining a local church. “I don’t need a church to meet with God, I can meet with God anywhere!” “I don’t need a pastor to tell me what God says, I can study the Bible for myself.” “I used to attend a church, but the pastor offended me and I’ve never gone back.” These all reveal a misunderstanding of the purpose for which Jesus instituted the local church. In the later case, they are making their obedience to God’s word […]

Chicken

Don’t be Chicken!

This is a picture of one of my chickens… (former chickens God rest her little soul). I’m sorry for the graphic nature of the image but it serves to make a point. My nephew moved 8 chickens onto his new property adjacent to mine a few weeks back, and I have become a sort of Shepherd to the “flock”. Every time they see me or hear me whistle they come waddling to me as fast as they can, hoping to receive some edible token of my affection. It’s funny how animals of all sorts can work their way into your […]
